Bat Detector and Survey Training Course

This beginner and intermediate training course is designed to introduce you to/refamiliarise you with the acoustic world of bats and bat surveying techniques. It will
cover the following:
- How to use bat detectors;
- How to undertake a bat survey;
- Introduction to sonogram analysis
This non-residential training course, will take place over a weekend in June and will include:
- Fieldwork undertaken in the Co. Cavan area at various locations (we will be car-sharing where possible);
- Dusk and dawn surveys will be undertaken, with dawn surveys as optional (weather permitting)
The fee will include course tuition tea/coffee throughout the daytime and dinner on the Saturday evening at the Willows Café, Virginia, Co. Cavan. A menu will be provided for people to pick their main course and dessert options. Please note that accommodation is not included in the course fee.
Dates: 23-25 June 2023
Registration: Friday 23 June 2023, between 5-6pm (Course will finish by 1pm on Sunday 25th June 2023)
Location: Agricultural Show Grounds, Virginia, Co. Cavan
Once you register for the course, a Bat Conservation Ireland team member will be in touch, to gather details on your experience level in relation to bat detectors and bat surveys. A certificate of attendance will be provided post course completion. All presentations will be provided in PDF version for course participants.
