An all-Ireland charity that promotes the conservation of bats and their habitats
Bat Conservation Ireland needs you to survey your local waterway for bats! This survey is a great introduction to Ireland’s nocturnal wildlife. To join the survey please come along on one of our evening training courses in July.
Training involves an indoor presentation for about one hour, followed by an outdoor survey to identify Daubenton’s bats in flight.
No prior bat survey experience is necessary, just plenty of enthusiasm.
Please wear sturdy footwear, outdoor clothing. Bring a torch and a bat detector if you have one, but we can lend you a bat detector if you don’t.
BATLAS 2020 surveyors are welcome to attend the whole evening course or just the field survey element (which will take place approximately one hour after the listed start time).
The All-Ireland Daubenton’s Waterways Survey is funded by the National Parks and Wildlife Service and Northern Ireland Environment Agency. This event is also supported by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council.
