BCIreland completed a pilot scheme in autumn 2015, funded by the National Parks and Wildlife Service, to trial methods for BATLAS 2020. The aim of BATLAS is to map the distribution of four target bat species across the island. The results of this pilot, which was co-ordinated by Dr Isobel Abbott and carried out by volunteers around the country, are now available to download on our reports and publications page. Many thanks to everyone involved. We are looking forward to rolling out the scheme island-wide in (a hopefully warmer) summer 2016.
